Consistency

Since writing my first blog I have come to really appreciate the main title of my blog...Make It Count!!!
I have been trying to wake up everyday and really appreciate the life that I am blessed with and make it a point to affect someone's life each and every day. I ask you to do the same also as simple acts can turn a person's life around more than you can imagine.

The title of today's entry is Consistency...I have been trying to apply this to my patients, family time and training for many years. Recently I have read many of articles surrounding people trying to find the secret to success in long distance endurance sports and its no surprise that the one common theme is consistency in your training. There are no super workouts, equipment, nutritional products (legal ones...ha ha)...its plain and simple of making a plan and sticking to it (consistency).

The fun part of consistency of training is that it applies across everything in your life. The more consistent time you can spend with your family the more full-filled your life will be. In my line of work as a chiropractor the more consistent patients are with their care the quicker I can get them back to what they enjoy. For those of you that love to set goals the more consistent you are with re-evaluating your goals the more you can always be 110% present time focused on executing those goals.

So the one thing that I ask each and everyone of you to do is find something in your life that you can make consistent and I can guarantee that you will enjoy the results. I have been consistent with my training for years and I am finally seeing the results of my hard work. My goal of incorporating more consistency is telling my wife that I love her each time I talk to her and never going to bed angry.

I want to also say thanks to everyone who has donated to Jimmy's fundraiser so far. I am blessed to have such amazing people in my life.

Make It Count!!!!

Make It Count

Make It Count....this is a slogan that over the years has become my main concentration for the way I live. I believe that we have to take advantage of the time we are blessed with and those of you that know me I like to stay busy and enjoy most everything I do.

Over the past couple months someone has touched me more and made me always be thankful for what I have. My wife's cousin James "Jimmy" Henderson has been battling brain cancer for close to the past two years and unfortunately the evil side of cancer seems to be winning. I have had the opportunity to hang out with Jimmy numerous times of the past few years and even through everything he is going through I have noticed one common them...he enjoys every minute and is very optimistic. I could only hope that if I was in his situation that I could be as strong. At 37 years old Jimmy has a lot left to give to this world including watching his 7 year old son become as great a man as his father. Cancer however doesn't care about age, gender or what goals you have in life.

This leads me to my goal from now until I race Ironman Lake Placid in July. My goal is to use my avenue of training and racing to help not only Jimmy and his family race money for mounting medical bills but help get the word out that cancer has no place in this world anymore. I am tired of people close to me losing the battle to such a horrible disease.

I have created this blog to provide updates on Jimmy, help raise money, help raise awareness, provide my thoughts/opinions on how you and I can live life to its fullest as nothing is guaranteed, provide some guidance as to how I train for an Ironman Triathlon should you care, etc...

My wife and I are getting close to welcoming our third little princess in the world which is more of a blessing to me than my girls will ever know. I number one goal in life is to make sure my little ladies are always taken care of and that I teach them how to capture everything that this world has to offer.

So please take the time each and every week to read my blog should you be interested in what I have to say.

I also know that times are tough financially for everyone but I ask you to please take a few minutes and donate whatever you feel you can towards helping Jimmy and his family out. I know that they would be beyond grateful as would I.

Here is to racing, training and living a life towards Making It Count....

Thanks,

Jake
